We are more effective when we work collaboratively and seamlessly to support student needs. We are ALL responsible for working together for the success of ALL students. Improving communication and access to common information, establishing effective instructional and support teams, and focusing on wrapping around and strengthening the core relationship of teacher-student-families will improve student success.
We have developed a Framework for Collective Responsibility that will help guide the work we do from creating, implementing and monitoring School Plans for Learner Success, Local Education Agreements with First Nation communities, Individual Education Plans (IEP), and interventions by School-Based Teams (SBT). Common district assessments, with results made available in a timely and user-friendly format, support collaborative learning conversations by teams. Collective responsibility is a theme that emerges across all the other focus areas as we all do our parts toward common goals. Examples of this work include:

- More opportunities for cross-school collaboration

Growing Roots Together
The week before school starts finds a collaboration between the Cariboo Chilcotin Teachers' Association, Principals, and SD27 Human Resources to welcome new teachers to the district with a shared commitment to creating the conditions for them to thrive.
Library Aide

Our library aide is always trying to find ways to support our students. She made each student a Lac La Hache library card to help make the experience of signing out a book like the real world. When students are doing research, she is helping them find books and websites to gather information from.

The Lac La Hache PAC has been a huge supporter of our school. The small amount of members has had a large impact. They have organized events to help build a strong sense of community like a weekly hot lunch for all students, a school carnival, and a school movie night.

The Lac La Hache Community Club has been a supporter of our school this year. This month, the club granted our school permission to use their fields for a South End Baseball Jamboree.
Safer Space: Children of the Street

Keeping children safe is a shared responsibility. This week, our students participated in the Safer Space workshop presented by Children of the Street, a provincial organization dedicated to preventing the sexual exploitation and human trafficking of children and youth in British Columbia.
Outdoor Learning Conversation

While walking in the area around the school, staff shared and discussed ideas on how to incorporate the trails around the school to do place-based learning.
Bread Making

A past teacher and her mom visited our school to share and teach students about making bread. Each student got their own dough to split, roll, braid, and brush with an egg wash. The bread was baked by the volunteers and the students got to take their own loaf home.
Friday Skate

The community has donated ice time at the local hockey rink and lent out skates so students at Lac La Hache Elementary are able to learn to skate. Each Friday afternoon from November to February, the school walks to the rink and learns to skate together.
Electrical Safety Presentation

Lac La Hache students greatly enjoyed and appreciated members of BC Hydro giving a presentation on electrical safety. Some of the older students who could fit into the safety harness even had the opportunity to check out a ride in the bucket truck.
Water Testing

Under the guidance of Jenny Howell from Water Wise, students from Lac La Hache school went down to the actual Lake and tested the water using 7 different measures. The students were pleased to discover that based upon their testing, Lac La Hache is doing quite well.
Keep on Biking

Thanks to the help of the amazing Mary Forbes, who came out and worked on fixing bikes with Lac La Hache students, every student at the school now has a bike and a helmet that they can enjoy during their free time at school.
Learning Through Outdoor Play

Lac La Hache students are very appreciative of the new sand box that the facilities department built for us last week. It provides a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn while playing in a creative and constructive environment.

The PAC groups from both GROW and Lac La Hache got together to co-sponsor a seasonal craft event that was enjoyed by students from both educational programs. The students really enjoyed and appreciated making seasonal center pieces to by given away to someone special in their lives.
The Season for Giving

Lac La Hache students are creating seasonal cards that can be included in the food hampers that the Lac La Hache volunteer Fire Department are distributing to families in our community this holiday season.

Fire Fighting, Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Training

Members of the volunteer Lac La Hache Fire Department spent a morning with Lac La Hache students teaching them valuable lessons about fire prevention, fire safety as well as how to use the powerful fire hose.
